The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has been embroiled in a major controversy. The board collected Rs 90.54 crore for the exam during the 2020-21 session. However, these exams were not taken citing Corona. School children were promoted on the basis of their previous results. The parents allege that the education board has extorted crores of rupees from them for earning. After the disclosure of this entire matter from RTI, there is a demand from CM Bhagwant Mann to return this amount to the parents or to adjust further.

Fee was taken for 10th and 12th
The Punjab School Education Board had taken 38 crore 75 lakh 44 thousand 807 rupees from the school children for the tenth examination. At the same time, instead of the 12th examination, a fee of Rs 55 crore 81 lakh 26 thousand 341 was taken. Harinder Singh, a resident of Patiala, had sought this information from the Board of Education.

more recovery of mark sheet
Not only this, another act of the Board of Education, which has collected crores of rupees without examination, has come to the fore. 800 rupees are being demanded from school children in lieu of mark sheets.

Return exam fee or give marksheet for free: Democratic Teachers Front
Vikram Dev, head of the Democratic Teachers Front, said that most of these school children are from poor families. This kind of action of the government seems that it does not want to allow those children to study. The school board should refund the exam fee or give the marksheet free of cost.

Did not earn, was fully prepared for the exam: Chairman
PSEB Chairman Dr. Yograj Sharma said that it is wrong to say that the board has earned by taking exam fees. He argued that all the preparations had been made to conduct the exam. The board has also printed the question paper. The exams could not be held at that time due to the high number of cases of Kovid. The soft copy of the mark sheet can be downloaded for free in DigiLocker. Hard copy is not necessary. From the next session, its fee will be kept at Rs 100.
