Punjab: Randomization of EVMs for Sahnewal, Payal and Ludhiana (South) constituencies, conducted in the presence of political party representatives. Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: Randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for three constituencies, viz. sahnewal, anklets and Ludhiana (South), was held at Bachat Bhawan on Sunday in the presence of representatives of political parties and general observers.
Randomization was done in the presence of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, ADC (G) Rahul Chaba, and expenditure supervisors Shesh Nath and Prabhanshu Kumar Srivastava.
Giving information on the occasion, Varinder Kumar Sharma said that 19 candidates are contesting from Sahnewal, 18 from Payal and 17 from Ludhiana (South) constituencies. He said that since the control unit of each EVM can accommodate only 16 candidates, an additional unit would be required. Therefore, two control units will be set up in the polling stations of these constituencies.
He said that additional EVMs were randomized on Sunday, while the second randomization of EVMs would be done on February 8, 2022.
On this occasion Varinder Kumar Sharma assured that the elections will be held in a free and fair manner without any fear.
It is to be mentioned that a total of 175 candidates are in the fray in district Ludhiana, who will contest the upcoming elections. Vidhan Sabha Elections from 14 different constituencies of the district.
The maximum number of candidates contesting from a single constituency will be in Sahnewal, from where 19 candidates will contest the upcoming assembly elections, followed by Payal 18, Ludhiana (South) 17, Atmannagar 15, Ludhiana 14 each. 11 candidates will contest from Gill (East) and Samrala, 10 each from Khanna, Ludhiana (North), Dakha, Raikot and Jagraon, 9 from Ludhiana (Central) and 8 from Ludhiana (West) constituencies.
