Punjab: Punjab sends a panel of 10 IPS officers to UPSC for the post of DGP. Chandigarh News – Times of India

Chandigarh: Amidst the controversy over the appointment of 1988 batch IPS Officer Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota As Acting DGP, Punjab The government on Thursday sent a panel of 10 qualified IPS officers to the Union Public Service Commission.UPSC) for the selection of his new police chief.
As per the Supreme Court judgment dated 3 July 2018, the Punjab government has sent the names of 10 eligible officers to the panel from 1986-batch to 1991-batch. Union Public Service Commission will now convene a meeting and send a list of three suitable officers for the post to Punjab.

5 IPS batch officers in the list
In return, the state government will appoint one of them as the state police chief. IPS officers on the panel include Siddharth Chattopadhyay (1986 batch), Dinkar Gupta (1987), MK Tiwari (1987), VK Bhavra (1987), among others. Prabodh Kumar (1988), Rohit Choudhary (1988), Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota (1988), Sanjeev Kalra (1989), Parag Jain (1989), and Barjinder Kumar Uppal (1991 batch). After the formation of a new council of ministers under Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi earlier this month, Punjab’s current police chief Dinkar Gupta was sent on a month-long leave and the charge of state police chief was handed over to Sahota.
