CHANDIGARH: Unveiling Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 10-point ‘Punjab Model for assembly elections’, party supremo Arvind Kejriwal On Wednesday, he accused the Congress and the Akalis of running the government in a ‘partnership’ to advance mutual interests.
Talking to media persons in Mohali, Kejriwal said that people are happy that they have the opportunity to bring about a change. “This time people want to give you a chance,” he said. Kejriwal said that his party has prepared a 10-point agenda for the overall development and progress of Punjab based on the feedback of the people. He said that all aspects of development of Punjab have been given full attention in the agenda.
He said that the issue of employment has been given priority. Due to lack of employment, a large number of Punjabi youth are going abroad by spending lakhs of rupees. AAP government will create enough employment opportunities in Punjab and make the state so prosperous in five years that youths who have gone abroad will start returning in five years. He said that you know how to get a job and even in the Kovid period, 10 lakh jobs were given in Delhi.
Kejriwal also pledged to wipe out the drug mafia from Punjab. He claimed that the previous governments had links with the drug mafia, which resulted in illegal drug trade across Punjab and lakhs of youth became addicted to drugs.
Referring to the incidents of sacrilege in the state, Kejriwal said that the Punjab Police was capable of taking action, but since big political people were involved in the conspiracy, the police did not get a free hand. “We have no setting with any party or leader. We will bring the guilty to justice. To restore peace and brotherhood in the state, you will give the harshest punishment to all the perpetrators of sacrilege cases,” he said.
Kejriwal also promised corruption free Punjab. He said, ‘In AAP government, people will not have to make rounds of government offices, but government employees will go to people’s homes and get their work done. The fifth agenda item is good education, and the sixth is a good health care system. “The AAP government plans to renovate Punjab’s government schools and hospitals on the lines of Delhi and provide free good education and medical services to the people,” he said. He said that you will also provide electricity for free and 24 hours. Under the AAP government, people will be free from power cuts, and all families will get free electricity up to 300 units. Kejriwal said that in order to empower women, the AAP government will provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to all women above the age of 18, so that they can take decisions about their own lives and future.
The ninth agenda item is to improve agriculture and farmer prosperity in Punjab. He said, “Unless the condition of the farmers improves, the state cannot develop. As a result, we will resolve any issue related to farmers coming under the purview of the state government and will take up the issues with the Centre. Will pick up.” Kejriwal said that AAP will also promote business-industry, we will completely eliminate Red Raj, Inspector Raj and corruption from Punjab and create a business-friendly environment. He said that the people of Punjab should beware of traditional parties.
