Ludhiana: Industries and Commerce Minister of Punjab Gurkeerat Singh Kotli laid the foundation stone on Wednesday markfedadvance plant for Vegetable and refined oils It will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 23 crore.
Apart from providing employment to more people, this plant will also ensure the production of quality oil.
Talking to media persons, Kotli said, “The Markfed plant at Khanna is more than five decades old and it was the need of the hour to upgrade it. Keeping in mind the strengthening of the brand name and oil production as per consumer requirements, the Punjab Government has decided to build a plant equivalent to the capacity of a physical refinery which will produce 100 MT of Vegetable and 110 MT of Palm. Oil. The plant will be ready in 15 months.
MLA Payal Lakhveer Singh Lakha, Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Agarwal, Managing Director Markfed Varun Roojam, Zilla Parishad President Yadvinder Singh Jandiyali and senior officers of Markfed were present.
