Efforts are on to open medical colleges in every district.

The Punjab government on Monday agreed to create 25 additional seats each in government medical colleges of Patiala and Faridkot. education and Research Minister Chetan Singh Jauremajra said here.

He said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is determined to improve the health and education sector, which are major areas of concern, due to which the government has decided to create additional seats in both the medical colleges.

Efforts are on to open medical colleges in every district. The officials were directed to start classes in the medical colleges of Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Sangrur from next year.

He said that free medicines should be made available at the earliest to the patients in the hospitals of medical colleges.
