Punjab Elections: Watching Hindu Votes, CM Channi Announces Special Research Center on Ramayan, Mahabharat

In what is seen as an attempt to woo Hindu voters, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday announced setting up of a special research center on the Hindu holy book Bhagavad Gita as well as two epics – Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of the state-of-the-art Lord Parashuram Taposthal at Phagwara, Channi said the research center would showcase the message of epics and scriptures. He said that he has been a source of inspiration to humanity for centuries, this research center will act as a catalyst to spread his message among the masses in the simplest way possible.

The Chief Minister further said that the state government will develop it. place of worship As the architectural marvel of Parashurama. He said that a check of Rs 10 crore has already been handed over to the district administration and more funds would be sent if needed.

Channi also announced that Brahmin Welfare Board would be entrusted with the task of ensuring proper care of stray animals in Punjab. He said that funds would be provided to the board for proper maintenance of stray animals.

Citing the example of Mahabharata to launch a scathing attack on the Akalis, the CM said that the Kauravas were ruined because of King Dhritarashtra’s “puttar moha” (love for the son). “The Akalis are in shambles because of the love of Parkash Singh Badal. His son,” he said, adding that the Mahabharata was a treatise of state art and relevant even in present times, and that the Shiromani Akali Dal’s poor political condition was an example.

Channi slammed Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal for his “little knowledge” of the state, saying the Delhi chief minister was groping in the dark to satisfy his “lust for power”. He said that apart from being an outsider, Kejriwal was also a rumor monger who knew nothing about Punjab but used to poke his nose in all its matters.
