Punjab elections: 45.11% voter turnout in Ludhiana district till 3 pm | Ludhiana News – Times of India

LUDHIANA: Ludhiana district witnessed approximate voter turnout of 45.11% till 3 pm on Sunday. the district Election Officer meanwhile said that the voting process in the district has been peaceful.
The voting figure released by the election authorities at 3 pm suggested that Samrala assembly segment had highest turnout among the fourteen seats of the district. Dakha constituency was at second spot with 50.72% voter turnout.
In urban areas of Ludhiana, Ludhiana central had lowest voting percentage at 39.00% whereas Ludhiana South had voter turnout at 39.60%.
Meanwhile, voting was slow in the first hour in Ludhiana as approximately 3.81% voters had cast their votes in the district till 9 am. By 11 am, the approximate voting percentage in the district was 15.58% which increased to 29.58% by 1 pm before reaching 45.11% till 3 pm.
In the meanwhile, addressing media persons at around 1 pm on Sunday, Deputy commissioner cum District election officer Varinder Sharma said that voting process has been going on peacefully in Ludhiana and there has been no incident of violence anywhere in Ludhiana till that time.
DC said that at one or two places, some voters have made video whom they have voted for and it is illegal to do so in polling compartment. He added that they are acting strictly against such persons and there is a person named Diwesh Makkar who has done so and he has ordered returning officer to get FIR registered against him.
