Over eight lakh people have so far responded to a survey by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), asking them to pick a candidate from the party who could be the chief ministerial face for the February 14 Punjab Assembly elections. .

Cheema said that over three lakh WhatsApp messages, over four lakh phone calls, over 50,000 text messages and over one lakh voice messages have been received on this number during the last 24 hours.

He said that the Aam Aadmi Party would announce its chief ministerial candidate after collecting and compiling the complete data. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday asked people who should be the party’s chief ministerial face in the Punjab Assembly polls, even as he said his own priority for the post was Bhagwant Mann.

Kejriwal, however, pulled himself out of the race as the AAP launched its “Janata Chungi Apna CM” campaign and said the name of the top candidate would be announced after getting people’s response.

A mobile number was launched by the party on which people could give their opinion on who should be the party’s chief ministerial candidate by recording their voices and sending text or WhatsApp messages till 5 pm on January 17. Cheema claimed that the people of Punjab had made up their mind to wipe out traditional parties “indulging in dirty politics” and said AAP would form the next government.

He said that people will vote in favor of AAP with a clear majority.
