Elections for the 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly will be held on February 20 while the results will be declared on March 10.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its list of candidates for the Punjab Assembly Election 2022. Of the 34 candidates declared in the first list, 13 are from Sikhs and 12 from farmer families. In the Punjab Assembly elections, the BJP is contesting the elections in alliance with Captain Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok. Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (United) of Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. The names include former minister Manoranjan Kalia, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, a sitting MLA who recently left the Congress to join the party, Arvind Khanna and Kanwarvir Singh Tohra, grandson of late Akali leader Gurcharan Singh Tohra.
While releasing the list, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said that the names of doctors, lawyers and former IAS officers are in the list. “Tickets have been given to 12 candidates from farmer families, 8 tickets to members of the SC community, 13 tickets to Sikhs. The list includes doctors, lawyers, sportspersons, farmers, youth, women and former IAS officers.
