Punjab CM warns Sidhu’s advisors against indecent remarks on Kashmir, Pakistan

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday warned two of Navjot Sidhu’s advisors against dastardly and misogynistic remarks on issues like Kashmir and Pakistan. He said the comments were “potentially dangerous to the peace and stability of the state and the country”.

Singh urged Sidhu to rein in his advisers “before they further harm India’s interests” and asked the advisers not to “speak on matters about which he had little or no knowledge, and There was no understanding of the implications of his comments”.

Responding to alleged comments by Sidhu’s adviser Pyare Lal Garg to Pakistan’s criticism of Amarinder Singh as well as questioning Malvinder Singh Mali’s earlier controversial statement on Kashmir, he expressed surprise at his “extraordinary statements”, Which he said was “absolutely wrong and antagonistic” to the declared position of India and the Congress on Pakistan and Kashmir.

The Chief Minister asserted, “Kashmir was and is an inseparable part of India.” In contrast, Mali effectively and inexplicably followed Islamabad’s line.

“It is anti-national,” he said, criticizing Mali for failing to withdraw his statement despite widespread condemnation not only from other parties but also from within Congress.

Taking a jibe at Garg’s statement that his criticism of Pakistan was not in the interest of Punjab, the Chief Minister said Sidhu’s adviser has been cut off from the ground reality.

“The fact, which every Punjabi and every Indian knows, is that Pakistan’s threat to us is real. Every day they are carrying weapons and drugs into Punjab through drones in an open attempt to destabilize our state and our nation. Punjabi soldiers are dying in the hands of Pak-backed forces,” the chief minister said, terming Garg’s remarks as “irrational and unfair”.

“Garg may have forgotten the lives of thousands of Punjabis who lost their lives in the fires of Pakistan-backed terrorism in the 1980s and 1990s, but I have not. Neither did the people of Punjab. And we are all in our power to fight. Will continue to do something. Dangerous game of Pakistan,” Amarinder Singh said, urging Garg not to downplay the sacrifice of Punjabis.
