Puneet Rajkumar’s family member said that whenever the late actor’s aunt remembers Appu and asks him, they say that he is on an outdoor shoot in a different country.
29 October 2021 was a terrible day for the fans of Kannada power star Puneeth Rajkumar. Talented actor, in just 46 years left a void that will be difficult to fill for long. Unable to bear the loss of the great man ‘Appu’, many fans also died by suicide. But even after so many months, Puneet’s aunt Nagamma does not know that her beloved nephew is no more.
Nagamma, age 90, is the sister of Dr. Rajkumar, a physician. She is the eldest in the family and loves Appu very much. She looked after Dr Rajkumar’s children when they were young. Puneet was her favorite nephew and the star often visited him at his ancestral home in Gajanur. To this day, Nagamma does not know that Puneet Rajkumar is no more. The entire Dr Raj family has maintained this secret with their favorite aunt.
“Whenever she remembers Appu and asks him, we say that she is on an outdoor shoot in a different country and will be back soon. We play her film and she happily watches her on screen. We have been managing like this for so long. A few years back, when Raghanna (Puneet’s elder brother Raghavendra Rajkumar) suffered a heart attack, she could not bear the shock and was admitted to the hospital. She took care of them like her own children. She certainly cannot bear the news of Appu’s death. That’s why we do it,” said a family member.
Gajanur House is the ancestral home of Dr Rajkumar and the family has not put garlands around Puneet’s picture to hide the news of his death from Nagamma. If any neighbors or villagers come to visit, the family protects them and makes sure they don’t speak about Appu.
