The 2 km long Datta Mandir Road extends from Dange Chowk on Sangavi Kiwale BRTS Road to Wakad Nagar School Chowk on Nashik Fatawakad BRTS Road.

Pimpri Chinchwad: Amidst heavy encroachment on Datta Mandir Road in Kaspate Vasti of Wakad, Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Society Federation has demanded the civic body to present its concreting plan.
A member of the federation said, “The road is likely to narrow from 45 meters to 24 meters, causing extreme traffic woes in the area.” According to Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation (PCCHSF) officials, officials of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), including Commissioner Rajesh Patil, remained unavailable to discuss their demand.
The 2 km long Datta Mandir Road extends from Dange Chowk on Sangavi-Kiwale BRTS Road to Wakad Nagar School Chowk on Nashik Phata-Wakad BRTS Road.
PCCHSF founder Sachin Londhe said, “We had earlier submitted our memorandum to the commissioner’s office, but there is no response yet. When we went to the civic chief’s office on Friday, he remained unavailable.”
He said that Nandan Inspera Housing Society has been a major victim of encroachment on this road. “Since 2018 we are demanding to widen the road as per DP (development plan) of only 45 metres. After realizing the issue of false plan of road widening, our federation has demanded that the PCMC commissioner show us the official presentation About the road action plan. We would like to give our suggestions for widening the road,” Londhe said.
About 21 societies have written a letter demanding to see the road work plan and maintain its 45 meter width. “If the demands and suggestions of the residents are not accepted, we may start an agitation against it soon,” he said.
PCCHSF chairperson Tejaswini Dhomse Sawai said, “Hopefully the road should be planned, land should be acquired and then construction work should start. Unless it is within the framework, it will be chaotic.”
PCMC commissioner Patil told TOI, “There are two sections on the road – one is 1,200 by 1,300 meters, which is 45 meters wide. As per the original plan the distance is 700 meters by 24 meters wide. Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority’s original DP and we are going ahead with it.”
Patil said that he would inform the concerned civic authorities to submit the road action plan to the representatives of the federation.
Former standing committee president and Ward 26 corporator Mamta Gaikwad said it was an important road for Wakad residents and as a public representative, she was yet to be given details of how the road would be developed. He said that if the presentation is not given then the administration will have to face the anger and protest of the residents.
