Pune building collapse: Nitish Kumar announces ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to families of deceased from Bihar | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: Five construction workers from Bihar were killed and five others injured after a steel structure collapsed at an under-construction site in Shastrinagar locality of Yerwada area in Pune late Thursday night.
All the five deceased workers were natives of Barsoi subdivision under Bihar’s Katihar district.
Expressing his deep condolences over the death of Katihar workers in Pune, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Friday announced an ex-gratia grant of Rs 2 lakh to the next kin of each of the five deceased workers from the CM relief fund.
The CM also announced a payment of Rs 50,000 to each of the injured persons from Bihar and prayed for their speedy recovery.
“As soon as reports about the death of five Bihar workers reached here, the state administration sprang into action and asked Katihar district administration to coordinate with Pune administration to bring bodies of the deceased persons,” a senior official of Bihar home department told TOI on Friday.
The deceased persons have been identified as Sahil Mohammad, (native of Azamnagar Belwa village), Mohammad Samir (Baghaura, Azamnagar), Mobid Alam (Choundi, Barsoi), Mazruf Hussain (Dhachana, Barsoi) and Tajib Alam (Bhai Nagar, Balia-Belaun), the official said.
Contacted over phone, Katihar district magistrate Udayan Mishra said he was in contact with the officials of Pune administration and they were making all necessary preparations to send the bodies.
“There are five coffins, and they have two options to send the bodies – either through flight or ambulances. As there is no direct flight from Pune to Bagdogra airport (Siliguri), the Pune officials are looking for an option to send the coffins through air from Mumbai airport to Bagdogra. If the first option is not materialized, the coffins will be sent on ambulances via road,” the DM told TOI over phone.
