BENGALURU: The priests of monasteries across Karnataka have planned to form a new organization, the Mathagala Mahasabha, which will work for the interests of the people. The saints expressed solidarity with BS Yediyurappa in the meeting amid speculations of a change of leadership.
“Saints from all the monasteries in the state should come together to start the Mathagala Mahasabha, which will work for the welfare of the society and meets frequently like the Dharma Sansad. Let us launch the organisation,” Murugha Sharanaru said at the meeting. He told the Times of India that the priests of several monasteries have welcomed the proposal. The gathering was witnessed by saints from around 400 religious institutions. Many participants said that monasteries should be proactive in responding to social and political issues so that people get justice.
