Puducherry to provide Rs 1,000 per month to woman heads of BPL families, laptops to students | Chennai News – Times of India

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry government has decided to extend a financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month to woman heads of below poverty line (BPL) families who are aged between 21 and 55 years and not covered under any monthly financial assistance schemes from the government, said chief minister N Rangasamy on Monday.
Presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2022-23, Rangasamy, who holds the finance portfolio, said the government has proposed to issue laptops free of cost to Class XI and Class XII students in government and government-aided schools in a phased manner.
The government has proposed to resume distribution of bicycles free of cost to Class IX students in government and government-aided schools.
The Puducherry government has proposed to establish National Law University and allocated necessary land for the project already. The government has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone for the project, he said.
The government has initiated efforts to start ferry services between Karaikal port and Kankesanthurai port in Sri Lanka.

The government has planned to set up a digital museum and tourist experience centre in the new museum building in the art and craft village at Murungapakkam. It will also establish a toy museum and natural history museum to attract more tourists.
The government has proposed to revise the minimum wages to all non-government organizations to improve and fulfil their minimum needs of livelihood.
