Prophet Line: In the wake of violent protests after Friday prayers in Uttar Pradesh and several other states against Nupur Sharma’s remarks of Prophet Mohammad, the Ghaziabad administration has imposed Section 144 in the district till August 10, ahead of the festive season and scheduled examinations.

“Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in Ghaziabad district till August 10 to maintain law and order situation ahead of upcoming festivals and exams,” officials said.

Assembly is not allowed without permission. Guidelines have also been issued for social media. He said that the group administrators will keep informing the administration about any rumour-mongers.

Besides, the use of loudspeakers is also not allowed except in religious places, said the Ghaziabad DM.

More than 300 people have been arrested so far in Uttar Pradesh after protest against Friday prayers, while 82 of them have been arrested in Saharanpur alone.
