A group of people attacked and damaged a local train at Bethuadahari railway station in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Sunday evening, a police official said. It was not immediately known whether there were any casualties. The group was protesting the controversial remarks of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Prophet Mohammad.

A large number of protesters blocked the road and when the police chased them, some of them entered the station and pelted stones at a train running on a platform, the official said. He said train services on the Lalgola line have been affected due to the attack.
