Prohibitory orders issued against Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin

New Delhi: A judge on Saturday issued a restraining order against Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, police confirmed the news and the order was signed on Friday. Officers visited an upscale neighborhood in the northern coastal city of Dorado where the singer lives to try to serve order.

It was not immediately known who requested the restraining order and further details were not disclosed because the order was filed under Puerto Rico’s domestic violence law.

A Puerto Rico newspaper said the order said Martin and the other party dated for seven months. The report cites the order saying that they broke up two months ago, but the petitioner says that Martin did not accept the separation and was seen walking at least three times near the petitioner’s house.

According to reports, the order bars Martin from contacting or calling the person who filed it and a judge will determine at a later hearing whether the order should continue or be dropped.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the person who filed for a restraining order did not contact police, which should involve prosecutors in determining whether there was enough evidence to file charges, but rather the request went straight to court.
