The third edition of the Professional Students Summit-2023, organized by the Government of Kerala, will be held near Angamaly here on February 11.

Renowned scientist and executive chairman of Bharat Biotech, Krishna Ella, which developed India’s first indigenous COVID-19 vaccine, will be the chief guest and plenary speaker, an official said in a release on Friday.

state high Education Minister R Bindu said that the government wants to develop Kerala as a knowledge-based economy and believes that the professional students’ conference can contribute to this.

“The program will serve as a platform to acquire knowledge that can contribute to beneficial social development in the society. The summit serves as a place for idea generation as students can directly interact with domain experts The government is keen to support any initiative that leads to exchange of knowledge and welcomes the contribution of students,” said Bindu.

He said that more than a dozen industry leaders and academicians would speak and interact with the students.

More than 2,000 professional students from 300 colleges from Medicine, Law, Engineering, Management, Agriculture, Fisheries and Veterinary streams will participate in the summit to meet and hear from industry icons.

Renowned corporate leaders and educationists will share their inspiring stories of success to encourage and motivate the students to make use of the opportunities available in the state and the country.

The summit is an initiative of the Department of Higher Education and State Planning Board and was organized for the first time in 2019. ASAP Kerala, the skill development agency under the Higher Education Department, is organizing the event. Meanwhile, the 2021 and 2022 summits were not held due to the COVID pandemic.
