Producer of ‘OMG 2’ clarifies that only 3 crew members tested Covid positive

There have been reports of 7 people testing COVID positive on the sets of Pankaj Tripathi-starrer OMG 2 and due to this the shooting has come to a halt. Producer Ashwin Varde clarifies on the situation and explains what actually happened. “The report which says that 7 people were tested COVID positive on our sets is wrong. 3 crew members were diagnosed COVID positive 10 days back. He was immediately quarantined. To date, they are on their way to recovery. We are in touch with BMC officials and duly posting them on the health of these 3 crew members.

“As a film unit, we have followed all protocols regarding COVID. We have a COVID sanitization unit on the sets every day, which sanitizes the sets and checks every crew member daily. Each crew member is subjected to laboratory tests once every few days as per norms. In fact, after these 3 crew members tested positive, we immediately tested the rest of the unit as well – which consisted of about 200 people. Everyone else has tested negative.

He said, “I would also like to clarify that no shooting of the film was stopped due to this unfortunate incident. In fact, we have completed our Mumbai schedule and before going to Ujjain to complete the rest of the film. We are on a break.

“Our next event in Ujjain was scheduled to start from October 13. We have now moved the date to 23 October to allow adequate recovery time for the 3 crew members. The 3 crew members will complete their 14-day quarantine on October 17, after which they will be tested again to confirm their negative status.

“The rest of the crew will also be tested before leaving for Ujjain for the next schedule. In Ujjain too, we have a special COVID surveillance unit on set which will ensure that all guidelines and protocols are being followed.

“We thank everyone for their concern regarding this matter. We hope and pray for everyone’s good health.”
