Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department had decided to give food grains and mid-day meal allowance to primary school students during the Covid-19 lockdown period.

An inquiry has been ordered into the incident in a government school in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, in which school children locked all the teachers including the headmaster in a school room to protest against not getting the mid-day meal allowance. During the Kovid-19 period, Bairia Block Education Officer Pankaj Mishra said that the matter that came to his notice through the media would be investigated.

“If the allegations are proved to be true, the pending allowance will be sent to all the children immediately,” he added.

According to the information, the students of Composite School located in Durjanpur village of Bairia area locked the teachers in the government school.

Uttar Pradesh Basic Education The department had decided to give food grains and mid-day meal allowance to the primary school students during the Covid-19 lockdown period. Arrangements were made to provide nutritional benefits to students who do not get mid-day meals in schools due to the lockdown.

This money was to be sent to the parents of the students.

The students said that none of them have received allowance for the lockdown due to COVID-19.

Despite repeated complaints to the headmaster, no action has been taken in this direction till now. This was the reason that forced the students to take such a drastic step.”

School’s headmaster ‘in-charge’ Jayprakash Yadav said that the mid-day meal allowance of the fourth phase was not given to the children.
