Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrested on way to Lakhimpur from UP’s Hargaon

Following the Lakhimpur violence incident, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who was on her way to Uttar Pradesh district, was detained from Hargaon on Monday, claimed the party’s youth wing national president Srinivas Biwi on Monday.

After the incident, Priyanka Gandhi reached Lucknow airport last evening and was stopped several times by the police on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri. Her convoy was stopped in Lucknow and the police surrounded Kaul House, where she stays during her visits to Lucknow.

In his tweet in Hindi, Srinivas said, “Finally what happened is what BJP expected. In a democratic country of ‘Mahatma Gandhi’, the devotees of ‘Godse’ have arrested our leader @PriyankaGandhi ji who fought heavy rains. Police force to meet ‘Annadata’ from Hargaon. This is the beginning of the fight!! Kisan Ekta Zindabad”.

In a video shared with the tweet, Srinivas has called for all support to reach out to Sitapur Police Lines.

After several instances of being stopped on her way to Lakhimpur, Priyanka Gandhi attacked the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government and said, “I am not committing any crime by deciding to meet the victim’s family… Why are you stopping? You must have a warrant…?”

The Uttar Pradesh Police said that eight people died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident on Sunday. Lakhimpur Kheri District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Chaurasia told reporters, “Four farmers and four others have died (in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident). Investigation is on. It is an unfortunate incident, it should not be politicised.”

The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) issued a statement regarding the incident which claimed the deaths of four farmers and alleged that one of the four farmers was shot dead by the son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, while Others have reportedly been crushed. their convoy vehicles.

Refuting SKM’s allegations, MoS Teni said that his son was not present at the spot, adding that some miscreants got along with the protesting farmers and pelted stones at the car which led to an ‘unfortunate incident’.

He also claimed that “four of our (BJP workers) workers were killed” and said that cases under section 302 would be registered against the culprits.
