Priyanka Gandhi Pips Akhilesh, Maya in Attempt to Reach Lakhimpur Kheri as Oppn Sharpens Claws Before UP Polls

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has once again taken the lead in her attempt to create an edge over the top leaders of the Samajwadi Party and the BSP. Lakhimpur Kheri, because the opposition politics has gained momentum ahead of the state elections regarding this incident.

After learning about the incident, Priyanka took off from Delhi at around 8.30 pm and landed in Lucknow with Congress Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda at 10 pm. He had plans to go to Lakhimpur Kheri the next morning, but changed the plan after the Congress came to know about the prohibition order and the administration’s decision not to admit any politician.

Priyanka and Hooda managed to escape from Congress leader Sheela Kaul’s residence before midnight despite police presence outside the house and left for Lakhimpur. In the middle of the way, the police tried to stop Priyanka’s convoy but she changed her car to move forward. On the way, Priyanka and Hooda also had a heated argument with the police.

Ultimately, the police stopped Priyanka’s car in Sitapur district and took her into custody along with Hooda. Priyanka argued with the police and demanded production of a warrant to take her into custody. He also questioned whether it was a crime to visit the families of victims in Lakhimpur and why he was being prevented from doing so. Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Monday that he knew that Priyanka would not back down and the UP government was scared of her.

On the other hand, Samajwadi Party supremo and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was not allowed to proceed from his residence on Monday morning and has now sat on a dharna outside his house in Lucknow. BSP supremo Mayawati had on Monday deputed senior party leader Satish Chandra Mishra to go to Lakhimpur, but he too was placed under house arrest by the police on Sunday night.

Samajwadi Party and BSP are attacking the Yogi government for stopping their top leaders from going to Lakhimpur, but a senior BJP leader argued that these leaders are only trying to do politics over the incident and the state government says That political tours can aggravate the situation further. Priyanka Gandhi has been quicker than SP and BSP leaders to reach places where a major incident has taken place – as seen earlier in Sonbhadra.
