New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra married American-pop singer Nick Jonas in 2018. She recently shared her thoughts on wearing a mangalsutra for the first time after tying the knot with Nick.
Priyanka is often seen flaunting her mangalsutra. Sharing a brand endorsement for Italian luxury brand Bulgari on her Instagram, the ‘Citadel’ actress spoke about how she felt wearing a mangalsutra for the first time and what it meant to her. The actress said, “I remember the first time I wore mine… because we grew up with the idea of what it meant. It was just a very special moment for me. Also, a modern woman. As in, I understand the implications of this as well. Do I like the idea of wearing a mangalsutra or is it too patriarchal? But at the same time, I am the generation that is in the middle. Keep the tradition but know who you are And what do you stand for. And we’ll see if the next generation of girls can do it differently.”
She shared the concept behind a mangalsutra and how she loves to carry it in a contemporary way with jeans and a shirt. He also shared his knowledge about this auspicious ornament and told that black beads are used to ward off evil.
