global icon, Priyanka Chopra is in limelight with the trailer of his upcoming Prime Video web series Citadel. With its scintillating action and breathtaking visuals, the series has become the talk of the town. While shooting for the kick-ass action sequences, Priyanka Chopra packed some punches and pulled off stunts which made it a memorable experience for her. The actress is now gearing up for the release of the spy-action thriller, and has shared that for the first time in her 22-year career, she has got equal pay with ‘Citadel’.
Recently at the opening of the South By Southwest Film Festival, the actress spoke with Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, and shared her version with a bit of skepticism. “I could get in trouble (for saying that), depending on who’s looking,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for 22 years, and I’ve made over 70 features and two TV shows.”
She continued, “But when I did Citadel, it was the first time in my career that I had pay parity. I’m laughing about it, but it’s crazy, I put in the same amount of investment and work, but I Get paid very little. But the ease with which Amazon Studios said, ‘This is what you deserve, you’re the co-lead, it’s fair,’ and I was like, ‘You’re right, it’s fair’.
‘Citadel’ is Prime Video’s upcoming big-budget, globe-trotting spy thriller, produced by Russo Brothers and showrunner David Weil, and also stars Richard Madden alongside Priyanka. “And I wonder: Is it because there are so few women making decisions in Hollywood? Would it have been a different conversation if a woman hadn’t made that decision? Those are not conversations that happened very easily, concluded the actress.
