Prithviraj Sukumaran to direct and act in web series based on India’s ‘Biscuit King’ Rajan Pillai

Prithviraj Sukumaran is one of the biggest stars of Malayalam cinema who excels in both acting and direction. Lucifer starring Mohanlal in the title role marked Prithviraj’s directorial debut in 2019. With this film, Prithviraj proved to be an impeccable craftsman and the film saw a huge success at the box office. Now, he is going to direct and star in a Hindi web series, which revolves around the life of ‘Biscuit King’ – Rajan Pillai.

According to reports, acclaimed production house, Yoodlee Films will be controlling this production, which will be shot in Hindi. It is not yet known whether this untitled series will also be made in Malayalam.

Popularly known as the Biscuit King, Pillai was a shareholder of Britannia Industries. He was prosecuted by Singapore’s Department of Commercial Affairs with 22 charges of fraud and breach of trust. In 1995, he was killed while imprisoned in Tihar Jail.

According to news agency ANI, when Prithviraj was asked about his share, Prithviraj said, “It all happened at the age of 47. Even though he passed away in 1995, his story serves as a pertinent example. Works how the effects of success and power blur the line. Of morality, for this generation.”

Among other projects, Prithviraj Sukumaran will soon start filming on Lucifer’s sequel L2: Empuran. Murali Gopi will write the script of the film, while Mohanlal will return to play his much-loved role.
