Prithvi Shaw hammered 244 runs off 173 balls in Wednesday’s third game against Northamptonshire’s Somerset. The right-handed hitter batted flawlessly, smashing 22 fours and 11 sixes to lead the team to victory by 87 runs.

What Shaw says regarding Indian selection?

During the post-match presentation, Prithvi Shaw was asked if he would like to return to the Indian squad after his huge success at the England national competition. Shaw replied that he was not considering choosing India, he just wanted to have a good time at the tournament.

“It’s definitely an experience. I don’t really care what the Indian national team thinks, but I just want to have a good time here and have a good time with the players and the coaching staff here. Northamptonshire. Gave me this opportunity…they really care about me. I really enjoy it,” the 23-year-old said.

Prithvi Shaw’s last India appearance 

Shaw’s last appearance for India was in July 2021 against Sri Lanka in the ODI and T20I series. India’s opener players were called up to the T20I squad against New Zealand in February this year. However, he did not appear during the three games in a row. Shubman Gil and Ishan Kishan played for the team in all three matches.

Shaw breaks his own record

Prithvi Shaw surpassed his own List A cricket top score with 244 runs. His previous best score was 227 at the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shaw revealed that his own record of 227 was on his mind as he approached his second century in the bout.

“To be honest, 227 was on my mind. I spoke to Whitey [Whiteman] when he was there and I told him that was my highest score, 227. But it was a good team effort throughout,” added the cricketer.

“I am always trying to win games for my team and I am one of those players who puts the team first and then myself. , I should keep it up,” added the Mumbai-born.
