Hailing from Thane and raised in Mumbai, a young boy dreaming of becoming a cricketer has made his dreams come true with hard work, dedication and commitment. Prithvi Shaw, 21, recently bought a BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo and took to social media to show off his new ride. A star in the making and with a long way to go, Shaw has made an impact in the game and has set his name in many records starting with his century on debut against West Indies in 2018 have created.
At 21, not many cricketers can brag about the young Shaw and now with being a proud owner of a BMW, the 21-year-old took to Instagram, quoting Canadian rapper Drake’s famous song, ‘Starting with Happened. Down here we are now’. Just have a look.
The 21-year-old right-handed batsman was last seen representing Delhi Capitals in the United Arab Emirates in the Indian Premier League 2021. Opening for the national capital-based franchise in the IPL, Shaw was in good form and contributed with his bat and got the team out several times. Delhi Capitals made it to the IPL play-offs, however were eliminated after losing to Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 and Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 2.
In 15 IPL matches played this season, the opener scored an impressive 479 runs, scoring four half-centuries, with a high score of 82. In the list of most run-scorers this season, Shaw finished seventh, however, with the rest of the top scores being 500+ and 600+ runs. Despite the sizzling shows that Shaw has done, it could not get him a place in the T20 World Cup Team India squad. However, this young player will be waiting for the upcoming series after the T20 tournament. After the tournament, India will host New Zealand which will consist of red ball and white ball cricket series.
In his short career so far, Shaw has played five Tests for the Indian cricket team, scoring 339 runs including a century. Shaw has also played 6 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Team India, scoring 189 runs with a best score of 49. In T20Is, Shaw has played only one match.
In the upcoming tours, Shaw will look to turn heads and establish a solid position in the Indian cricket team across all formats. Apart from being a classic red-ball batsman, the youngster has done well in white-ball cricket and will struggle to find a place as an opener.
