Bhubaneswar: The prisons directorate has proposed to the federal government to nominate 650 warders along with the prevailing 1,872 in all 87 jails within the state.
At current, 20,260 prisoners have been lodged in 87 jails. In accordance with norms prescribed by the bureau of police analysis and improvement (BPR&D), the warder- prisoner ratio must be 1:6, however in Odisha it’s 1:12.
