Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 340-km-long Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh on November 16. The expressway will connect eastern and western Uttar Pradesh.
Built at a cost of Rs 42,000 crore, the expressway starts from Chand Sarai village in Lucknow. It will pass through Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had inaugurated the construction of six-lane Purvanchal Expressway from Lucknow to Ghazipur via Azamgarh. In future, the expressway can be expanded to eight lanes.
The Yogi Adityanath-led government claims that the expressway will not only open the way for industrial activities, but will also boost the development of Purvanchal and provide employment to a large number of people.
Ahead of the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the focus of the Yogi Adityanath government is on five major development projects related to roads and airways. Some of these projects will be completed before the elections, while the work on others will continue after the elections.
The Uttar Pradesh government is regularly monitoring the progress of four major expressways, out of which work on three is in progress, while work on the fourth is yet to begin.
These highways will connect every part of Uttar Pradesh with the capital Lucknow.
The completion of these development projects will give a big boost to the BJP to make development an election issue in the state assembly elections. The leaders of the saffron party are hopeful that these development works will help the party win the Uttar Pradesh elections.
