Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an address to the US Congress on Wednesday compared the horrors of Russia’s war in his country to the attacks of Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

“It’s a terror that Europe hasn’t seen, hasn’t seen for 80 years,” Zelensky said.

“Remember Pearl Harbor, the dreadful morning of December 7, 1941, when your sky was blackened by planes attacking you,” he said, recalling the air raid that brought the United States into World War II.

“Remember September 11th, a terrible day in 2001 when evil tried to turn your cities, independent territories into battlefields,” he said. “Our country experienced this every day.”
