LONDON: Mathias Norman scored a brilliant solo goal and Teemu Pukki scored a penalty in the first half as struggling Norwich City sealed their first win of the Premier League season, a 2-1 win over fellow-promoted Brentford on Saturday.

The Brentford Community Stadium result ended Norwich’s 10-match winless run, a disappointing spell during which they lost eight games, including the last two.

Norwegian midfielder Norman led Norwich 1–0 against the race of the game in the sixth minute, overtaking Brentford’s defense before hitting the ball neatly in the bottom right corner for only the fourth goal of the Canary’s campaign. .

It was the first time Norwich had taken the lead in 15 Premier League games, and they doubled their advantage when striker Pucci picked himself up after a clumsy challenge in place of Charlie Goode and overtook Alvaro Fernandez from the penalty spot.

After being denied by the video assistant referee at the start of the second half and a point-blank save by Tim Krul, Brentford got their reward when Rico Henry volleyed in a cross that the Norwich goalkeeper gave the hosts a 2–1 victory. Misunderstood to give.

Pucci went close on either side of the break, thwarting an attempt only to beat the goalkeeper shortly before Brentford scored. But the Bees were unable to pay Norwich for their leniency and fell in their fourth straight league defeat.
