Prayagraj: The country’s leading saints and religious organizations will soon launch a movement to free Hindu temples and monasteries across the country from the control of state governments.
A decision to this effect will be taken in the ‘Dharma Sansad’ to be organized in the upcoming Magh Mela in Prayagraj.
Mahant Ravindra Puri, president of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, the top decision-making body of the orders of 13 Hindu akharas or monasteries in the country, said: “The all-important ‘Dharma Sansad’, to be held on January 30, will lay out a blueprint for a mass movement, which will be launched by temples and monasteries. to free it from government control.
“It is ironic that many officials, who belong to different religions, take decisions on our temples and monasteries and this situation cannot be tolerated anymore. Government is looking after the affairs of many major temples of our country including Tirupati Balaji, Shree Jagannath or Siddhi Vinayak. Also, there are some temples and monasteries which are looked after by persons who belong to different religions and are not well versed in our religious practices and rituals. How can we tolerate this,” questioned Puri.
Holding a ‘Dharma Sansad’ in Magh Mela is important because the issues discussed and approved in this meeting will be promoted and propagated by saints and religious organizations across the country as at the temple at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. happened with construction. It has been decided by the prominent saints of the Akhara Parishad that ‘Panchkoshi Parikrama’ will be organized in Prayagraj from January 27 to January 29. Speaking to TOI over phone, Mahant Ravindra Puri condemned the recent remarks by some religious leaders in Haridwar against the ‘Father of the Nation’. “Seeers should refrain from commenting against the ‘Father of the Nation’, political personalities or any community for that matter.
