Prayagraj: 28 policemen found COVID-19 positive in Magh Mela duty test. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: 28 policemen, including 24 from PAC Battalion and four from Reserve Police Lines, have tested positive for COVID-19 infection on Sunday. Magh Mela campus in Prayagraj.
With this, a total of 39 policemen have tested positive for the deadly infection so far.
All the 28 policemen who tested positive on Wednesday have been shifted to Kotwa Bani’s Covid-19 Level One Hospital for treatment.
Additional Chief Medical Officer and Nodal Officer Dr Rishi Sahai said samples of over 300 policemen were collected through RT-PCR on Tuesday after they complained of mild symptoms.
Dr Sahai further said that the health teams have collected a total of 11,500 samples for testing since January 1 and 41 of them, including 39 policemen and two visitors, have tested positive for the COVID infection so far.
So far more than 2500 policemen from different parts of the state have reached the Mela premises.
There are barely 24 hours left for the Magh Mela, in which lakhs of pilgrims will take a holy dip on the occasion of Makar Sankranti on January 14, as 14 health teams have started thermal screening of visitors at entry points.
More than a dozen teams are also engaged to collect samples from the camps of sadhus, sages, kalpavas and government offices.
Mela police officials, however, said that all preventive measures have been initiated and wearing of masks has been made mandatory for all police personnel at Reserve Police Lines and Mela premises, government offices, Mela police stations and police posts.
Sanitization exercise has also been done at Reserve Police Line and other places adjacent to the premises.
