According to the Hindu calendar, Pradosh Vrat is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is observed during Trayodashi Tithi, which is observed twice every month. Devotees believe that Lord Shiva can be appeased by observing Pradosh Vrat religiously. The first Pradosh fast of the year 2022 will be in the month of January and this time in the month of Paush, the Trayodashi date of Shukla Paksha is falling on Saturday, January 15. Pradosh Vrat, which falls on a Saturday, is usually observed by devotees who wish to conceive a child. Apart from this, fasting on this day brings happiness and prosperity in life. As the devotees observe this fast to please Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, it is said that the grace of Shani Dev is also received.

Puja Vidhi Of Pradosh Vrat

On this day, devotees wake up early in the Brahma Muhurta and take a bath in the Ganges. However, for those for whom this is not possible, they can also add a few drops of Ganga water to their regular bathing water. The puja begins with offering water to Lord Surya, also known as ‘Surya Arg’. Thereafter, devotees worship Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati, recite Shiva Chalisa and chant mantras. Fruits, flowers, incense, akshat (rice), cannabis, datura, milk, curd and panchamrit are offered to the deity. The ritual of worship ends with the aarti. Apart from this puja, the devotees observe a fast for the whole day.
