New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Chieftain On Wednesday, he blamed the previous governments at the Center for ignoring the contribution of the unsung heroes of the freedom struggle.
Releasing India Post’s special cover on six unsung heroes of Odisha, he said Indian Council of Historical Research Odisha Pradhan and Minister of Railways and IT Ahvini Vaishnav will be tasked to conduct research to find out the contributions of unsung heroes, with special covers of six freedom fighters, including Jayee Rajguru, Bakshi Jagabandhu, Baji Raut and Chakhi Khuntia. The leaders credited PM Modi for recognizing heroes who have been “ignored” by earlier governments.
Responding to a request by a descendant of Jai Rajguru to include the contribution of freedom fighters of Odisha in the curriculum, Pradhan said, “Even after 75 years of our independence, people have to make such demands… Because those who were in power ignored the contribution of such heroes.”
