Acclaimed choreographer Prabhu Deva has a string of interesting projects in the pipeline. The 48-year-old, who is also a popular actor and director, has many heroic ventures to look forward to. Recently signed by him is an action thriller, whose shooting has started in Chennai. Prabhu Deva’s next film will be directed by debutant Sam Rodrigues and produced by Joy Film Box Entertainment.
The star will play a cop in the yet untitled film. Speaking about the project, Sam mentioned that he felt that Prabhu Deva would be able to play the role with ease. According to a report in The Times of IndiaSam revealed that the actor is already working around the role of a police officer for another yet-to-be-released film, Pon Manikwell.
According to Sam, Pon Manikwell is likely to be a commercial film, while his directorial is an intense cop story based on the life of an IPS officer. He added that while Prabhu Deva has essayed all kinds of characters in the past including romantic and comedies, his film will portray the actor in a completely different light from what has been seen before. He also revealed that the film based on true events will be stylish and intense.
Sam said that when he approached Prabhu Deva with the script, the actor liked it so much that he immediately gave his dates to the filmmaker. The filming, which began on September 27, will continue in and around the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. “We will also shoot on the Kodaikanal-Munnar section. We will shoot some action sequences there,” Sam was quoted as saying by the portal.
After this, Prabhu Deva has many films to which he has committed. Apart from Pon Manikvel, work is underway for other films including Omai Vizigal, Bagheera, Yung Mung Sung and Poikal Kuthirai.
