According to the proposed new rates, where the metered connection of tube wells in rural areas has to be billed at the rate of Rs 2 per unit, now it will be Re 1 per unit. The fix charge will be Rs 35 per horsepower instead of Rs 70. Similarly, the fixed charge for unmetered connections has been reduced from Rs 170 per horsepower to Rs 85 per horsepower.
