Earlier on September 28, Sidhu had stepped down as the Punjab Congress President. He is said to have been upset with some of the appointments made by the new Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi.

Sidhu later released a video message on his Twitter handle in which he vehemently criticized the inclusion of tainted MLAs in the new cabinet headed by Chief Minister Channi.

Sidhu said that his only religion is to improve the lives of people, adding that he does not believe in bringing back the tainted people and will fight for it till the end.

He tweeted in Hindi and shared the video message, “I will continue the fight for right and truth till the last minute.”

In July, Punjab Congress chief nominee Sidhu took to Twitter to announce his resignation and said he would continue to serve the Congress.
