Positivity Rate Dips Below 4% In Aurangabad District | Aurangabad News – Times of India

AURANGABAD: With improvement in the overall Covid-19 situation, the positivity rate in the district over the past week — between February 10 and 16 — has remained at 3.96%.
The average positivity rate for the district during the second wave remained at 8.66%. The positivity rate in urban areas was at 8%, while it was 9.90% in rural areas of the district.

Positivity rate dips below 4% in Aurangabad district

During the second wave, the fatality rate in the district remained at 2.20% while contact tracing stood at 13.85%. According to health officials, Thursday witnessed as many as 53 new Covid cases taking the total number of active cases to 1,126. Health authorities said a total of 165 people recovered from the contagion along with no death.
district collector Sunil Chavan told TOI, “The situation has significantly improved with 99.04 per cent oxygen beds meant for Covid-19 patients are lying vacant.”
The district has a total of 3,230 of oxygen beds, 1,025 ICU beds and 552 with ventilators, out of which 4,761 are vacant. “The district received a total of 48,43,992 vaccines, including 43,80,946 covishield and 4,63,046 Covaxin. Of these 93.57% have been utilized,” Chavan said.
A highly-placed official in the administration said if things continue to improve in similar manner, days are not far when the administration will start scaling down all of the restrictions. To identify those infected, 15,27,905 tests were conducted during the second wave across the district.
As per obtained data, the district has set a target of 34,38,500 vaccinations out of which 82.24% has been achieved for the first dose and 48.60% has been achieved for the second dose. In addition, 33,469 precautionary doses have also been administered to the beneficiaries across the district.
