Popular Odia actor Pintu Nanda passes away

Popular Odia actor Pintu Nanda passed away during treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 45 years old. Family sources said that Nanda, who was suffering from liver ailments for a long time, breathed his last on Wednesday night. Family sources said that he was first admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and later shifted to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in New Delhi for a liver transplant.

However, the actor was shifted from New Delhi to Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad due to non-availability of an organ donor, family members informed. After the death of Nanda, a wave of mourning ran in the Odia film fraternity.

Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chhattisgarh Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and several senior state leaders condoled the demise of the Ollywood actor. Nanda was very popular in Odia cinema and television for his roles as hero, villain, character artist and comedian.

He started his acting career with a program on Doordarshan. Nanda made her debut in 1996 with the film ‘Koili’. Some of his popular films include ‘Dosti’, ‘Hata Dhari Chalu Tha’, ‘Rumku Jhumna’, ‘Wrong Number’, ‘Prema Rutu Asigala’, etc.
