New Delhi: The song ‘Veera Raja Veera’ – the second song to be released from the Mani Ratnam spectacle ‘Ponniyin Selvan: 2’ – was shared by the makers of the film on Saturday.
Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer AR Rahman has composed the track picturized on Karthi, Trisha and Shobita Dhulipala against the backdrop of warships sailing in the deep sea. It is based on a traditional Shiva stuti in raga Adana of the Dagarvani tradition of Dhrupad.
The track has melodious use of both the instruments tabla and veena complementing ‘Murkiyaan’ in the melodious voices of Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shreya Ghoshal and Armaan Dehlavi.
The Hindi lyrics of the song are penned by Gulzar, who has earlier given knockout albums for other notable films with Rahman like ‘Guru’, ‘Dil Se…’ and ‘Saathiya’.
‘Ponniyin Selvan: 2’, a sequel to 2022’s highest-grossing Tamil film ‘PS-1’, is directed by Mani Ratnam, National Award-winning producer of the classic hit.
Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s classic Tamil novel ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, the film will release in theaters worldwide on April 28 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
