Pollard shines ahead of West Indies and Pakistan T20 cancellations – World News

Incessant rain canceled the first T20I of the four-match series between West Indies and Pakistan at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Wednesday.

After incessant rain delayed the start of the game by almost three hours and reduced the match to nine overs-per-side, West Indies batted first and scored 85 runs.

Captain Kieron Pollard scored an unbeaten 22 while seamer Hasan Ali led the bowling effort for the visitors with two wickets for 11 in two overs.

However, the rain returned when the home team’s innings was coming to an end and after some deliberation, the umpires announced the cancellation of the match.

The series was already cut short of a five-match contest due to the Covid-19-enforced delay during the previous One Day International series against Australia at the same venue, the latest setback now leaving the series as a best-of-three duel .

The rest of the matches will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana from Saturday.
