Politics of compensation in Lakhimpur violence: Yogi government gave a check of 45-45 lakhs to the families of 4 deceased farmers, CM of Chhattisgarh and Punjab said – will give 50-50 lakhs to all 8 families

Eight people lost their lives in the Lakhimpur violence on October 3. It also includes 4 farmers. After 48 hours of the incident, the Yogi government of UP gave a check of Rs 45-45 lakh to the family of the deceased farmers in compensation. At the same time, on Wednesday, the Congress government of Punjab and Chhattisgarh state announced 50-50 lakhs.

Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi told the media that a journalist is also among the farmers who have died. The Punjab government will give 50 lakh rupees to the families of all the deceased.

After Channi, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel also announced compensation for the families of the victims. He said that the whole of India stood with the families of the victims. 50 lakh will be given by the Chhattisgarh government to the family of each of the victim farmers and Rs 50 lakh will also be given to the family of the victim journalist.

There was politics on compensation in Bhatta-Parsaul too
On 7 May 2011, the farmers’ protest at Bhatta-Parsaul in Greater Noida, UP suddenly turned violent. Two farmers and two soldiers were killed in police firing. After this, there was a lot of politics regarding compensation in Bhatta-Parsaul case. At that time the Congress was in the center and the BSP was in the UP. During that too, there was a competition between the central and state government to give compensation to the farmers of Bhatta Parsaul. The BSP government of the state had given compensation of more than Rs 48 lakh to the farmers after the May 7 incident.

At the same time, the central government had also claimed to give compensation of more than 40 lakh rupees to the farmers. Not only this, Congress had then distributed checks ranging from 10 to 50 thousand rupees to the injured 65 farmers by putting a chaupal in the village. Then BSP supremo Mayawati had termed the Central Government’s compensation to the farmers of Bhatta Parsaul as a political drama.

Special care of caste equation in opposition to Congress
The Congress is continuously registering a protest against the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was in police custody for 2 days (4 and 5 October) in Sitapur itself. On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi along with the CMs of Punjab and Chhattisgarh will meet the families of the dead in Sitapur and then in Lakhimpur.

It is believed that the Congress is taking Dalit CM Charanjit Singh Channi and OBC’s big face Bhupesh Baghel along to strengthen its ground in UP. It is being said that the Congress, which is supporting the farmers’ movement, wants to give a big message through these two faces in UP.
