Police Detain Surjewala, Selja, Vivek Bansal During Panchkula Protest

Party leaders including senior Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, Kumari Selja and Vivek Bansal were briefly detained in Panchkula while protesting against alleged corruption in recruitment of dental surgeons.

Congress leaders were detained by the police as they demanded gherao of the Haryana Public Service Commission office to protest the alleged corruption in recruitment.

The police took the leaders to Panchkula Police Line, from where they were later released. Haryana Congress President Shailja later told reporters in Panchkula that the police had detained her for a while.

Commenting on the alleged scam, he said, “We have been saying from the very beginning that such a scam is not possible without the protection of those involved. That’s why we have demanded an independent inquiry under the supervision of the High Court so that the truth can come out. Bansal, the party in-charge of Haryana affairs, alleged that the BJP-JJP government was playing with the future of the youth in the state.

He said that we want an independent investigation so that the truth comes out.
