New Delhi: Three people have been arrested Delhi PoliceThe crime branch of the crime branch for allegedly supplying heroin to the national capital, officials said on Sunday.
During the operation, a total of 1.1 kg of fine quality heroin worth more than Rs 2 crore was seized in the international market.
The accused have been identified as Hukam Chand (45) and Rohit (32), residents of Sultanpuri here and Shahid Khan (58), residents of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, police officials said.
A senior police officer said the first arrest was made on August 16, when police received information that Chand was coming to supply heroin near Dhan Dhan Satguru Park in Sultanpuri.
A trap was laid near the spot and Chand, who had come on a scooter, was arrested. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Chinmoy Biswal said that one kg of heroin was recovered from his scooter.
During interrogation, Chand revealed that he had bought heroin from Rohit.
Rohit was arrested on August 18 from Sultanpuri area. The DCP said his car was confiscated and 100 grams of heroin was recovered from him.
Police said that during investigation, Rohit revealed that he had bought two kilos of heroin from Khan.
It was found that Khan was arrested by the Bareilly Police on August 18 with 20 kg of heroin and was in jail since then. He told that a case has been registered against him at Fatehganj East police station in Bareilly.
Biswal said Khan was arrested by Delhi Police on September 1 and brought here for investigation.
Police said Khan disclosed that he was a heroin producer and that his relatives and other associates helped him with his work.
He said that raids are being conducted in Bareilly and other parts of Uttar Pradesh to arrest his accomplices.
