PM’s Security Breach: Punjab Police Rarely Follows ‘Blue Book’ On VIP Security, Says Former Top Cop

Making serious allegations against the state security apparatus, a former top police officer who recently joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that the Punjab Police is the “blue book” of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) related to VIP security due to political interference. ‘ is rarely followed. ,

His statement came when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Punjab on Wednesday to dedicate projects worth Rs 42,000 crore to the people. He reached Bathinda in the morning, from where he was to go to Ferozepur for the rally. However, bad weather forced a change in plans and PM Modi decided to cover the distance of 100 km by road – a two-hour drive. Just 10 kilometers ahead of the venue, his convoy met the protesting farmers, with the PM waiting on the bridge for 20 minutes. He eventually had to turn back, with the prime minister reportedly asking airport officials to “thank his chief minister” for making it to the airport alive.

Addressing the media in Amritsar, former IGP Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh claimed that there has been a serious breach in the security of the PM, adding that the Blue Book related to security protocols for VIPs like the President, Vice President and Prime Minister was to be followed. rarely followed.

Kunwar will contest as an AAP candidate from Amritsar North in the elections to be held around next month. “The Blue Book is always in the personal possession of Police Commissioners and SSPs. This book contains the security protocols to be followed during the visit of VVIPs like Prime Minister or President and Vice President. These instructions have to be followed by the officers. The shocking thing is that these days hardly any official is aware of the Blue Book in the state. Under the current political system, politicians have made police officers their slaves. Officials will have to follow ‘political’ guidelines instead of prescribed procedures,” he said.

Stating that he was referring to a police officer’s style of working “these days” rather than a representative of a political party, he remarked, “It doesn’t matter which party the PM belongs to. I am concerned about its sanctity. Security grid has to be ensured for the PM wherever he goes.”

He criticized the party for demanding President’s rule in Punjab, claiming that it was aimed at gaining indirect control over the state. “Now that Captain Amarinder has forged an alliance with the BJP-led Centre, he intends to have the last word,” the former IGP said.
