According to the rescue officer, PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz was injured in a road accident in Narowal’s Shakargarh on Thursday.
Regional Emergency Officer Rescue 1122, Said Kamal Abid told don.com The PML-N leader lost his arm in the accident and was taken to the district headquarters hospital Narowal, he said, adding that a person also died in the road accident, who was later identified as Naveed.
Narowal Deputy Commissioner Shahid Munir Gondal said Aziz was being shifted to Sewa Hospital in Lahore as his lungs had deteriorated and he was having trouble breathing.
The accident happened when the tire of the speeding truck burst and rammed into the vehicle carrying Aziz.
TV footage also showed Rescue 1122 officers carrying a bloodied politician into an ambulance.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident and wished the party leader a speedy recovery.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, he called Aziz’s wife and expressed deep grief over the accident. He directed the officials to take measures for Aziz’s treatment.
The Prime Minister also expressed grief over the casualties of others in the accident.
Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz has sought a report of the incident from Commissioner Gujranwala Division and Regional Police Officer.
