PM was soft spoken, wished success in life: Students recall Pune Metro ride

Shreya Gadwe, a seven-year-old student of a visually impaired school in Pune, on Sunday described her conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “short but memorable” during a Metro ride. During a ten-minute ride from Garware Metro station to Anandnagar station, Modi interacted with students with disabilities, some of whom were visually impaired, who were present inside the metro coach.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated a portion of the Pune Metro Rail project after purchasing tickets from kiosks. Shreya, a student of Poona School of Blind Girls, said the prime minister was “soft-spoken” and he made her feel comfortable.

He said, “It was an unforgettable moment for me for the rest of my life. Shreya said that she was aware of a possible meeting with the PM during his visit to Pune on Sunday, but was not sure. I felt relaxed because the meeting Was not initially confirmed. I got a message at 11th hour and reached at Garware metro station. As soon as it was time for PM to reach the station, we all students got very excited. And to our surprise, he was a coach where we were sitting,” she said.

Shreya said that the Prime Minister was very polite and soft spoken. Shreya said, “PM asked me questions like my name, where am I studying what I want to become in life etc. I shared the details and told him that apart from becoming a playback singer, I want to be an IAS officer. I want.” She said that Modi is surprised that she is thinking of becoming an IAS officer.

“He told me that you being very young are thinking of becoming an IAS officer to serve the country. Modiji also praised me for my dress. ‘You are looking very good. Shreya quoted Modi as saying, ‘You are also the youngest in the group’. Capable people.

Another blind student, Satish Eknath, who was inside the metro coach, said interacting with the PM was a special experience for him. “The PM spoke with us in Marathi. He asked us about our goal. He wished me success in life. It was a historic day in my life,” he said.

Rasika Shikhar, a student of Vimalabai Garware School, said the interaction with the PM was a “dream moment” for her and other students. “The PM told us that whatever you do, do it very well. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a mobile phone and I couldn’t take pictures with him,” she said.

Later in the day the metro service was opened to the citizens, after which people started coming to the station. Many citizens hoped that the Metro would reduce their daily commute and save time. Meanwhile, the Congress on Sunday took a dig at PM Modi’s visit during the Metro ride and his interaction with students dressed in school uniform.
